Surprise Family Packages

I have a huge extended family, we live all over the place {think Germany to California and everywhere in between}.  When I was at work, Jimmy sent me a picture of the label of a surprise package that I had received.  It read, “Fickling”…my family out in California!  It was a genuine surprise.  I was curious as to what was inside, and the excitement of having a package waiting at home definitely got me through my day at work.  Yes, technology has made communicating more…efficient, but there’s still something about receiving packages and snail mail that I simply love.

The contents:

*Coffee:  My younger cousin, James, works at Starbucks, and my aunt read about how I was in a Folger’s rut.  As you may know, Starbucks employees get the hook up when it comes to coffee, so she sent me some coffee beans in an attempt to get me out of said “rut”….love my Aunt Susi.
*Organic Rasins:  they have friends that own an organic raisin vineyard, and after their harvest they open it up to gleaning {which they often go to}.  So she sent me a huge bag of organic rasins.  I washed and soaked them, and Ryan and I literally cannot stop eating them.  They’re like candy, but not.  I’m not sure if I’ll ever be able to eat store-bought rasins again.
*Raw Honey:  also produced by friends…I heart raw honey.
*Peach Leather:  made from unsprayed peaches…of course I would love this…fruit leather, made from unsprayed fruit??  She sent two bags, so I shared with Ryan {although, unwillingly}
*Two Tasty Seasonings:  Organic “Real Salt” seasoning and Trader Joe’s “South African Smoke”, two combos she always cooks with, and knowing how much I like to cook, thought I would appreciate them as well.  Which of course I do…they’re great with chicken!

{I could have just made my “Five Things”, everything from this package}

Being Back on My Old Team

Back with my old team at work {it’s always changing}, and weekends off are coming up soon…all is well in that department.

Garlic Home Remedy

As I mentioned earlier in the week, I’ve been feeling a bit under the weather.  Whenever I feel a cold coming on, I reach for garlic cloves.  Seriously.  Garlic has a lot of anti microbial and antiviral properties.  It’s also full of antioxidants.  I’ve never, not, had it work.  If I’m ever feeling a little “flu-ie”, I quarter a garlic clove or two and swallow them whole with a big glass of water…go to bed, and feel better in the morning.  Don’t believe me?  Shailene Woodley does it.

St. Elmo’s Fire

A long time ago, someone recommended that I watch one of the Brat Pack classics, St. Elmo’s Fire.  For the life of me, I can’t remember who told me to do it, but the other night after work I finally did.  I loved it.  Still completely relatable to this generation.  Just a bunch of kids trying to find their way after college.  Something pretty much all of us go through, or are still going through.  Maybe a little selfishly..but who doesn’t at some point?  A must watch.

Football is Back

It’s that time of year.

Football is back, and fall is just around the corner.  It all gives me that warm, fuzzy feeling.  Last Sunday all of my decisions revolved around football games.  This Sunday, I’m extremely excited because Ryan and I lucked into some Panthers/Lions tickets for us and our friends {thanks Mom and Dad!}.  I can’t wait to tailgate and go to the game!

Hope everyone has had a good week!
