Back on a Monday, with another mantra…and now after about a month and a half hiatus, I can say that this blogging thing is back on. Officially, officially.

{Insert Elton John’s “The B!$%& Is Back” in the background for your Monday}

The idea behind today’s mantra is a mentality that I’ve tried to incorporate into my life for years. However, since spring is now here, and I also feel like everything is finally starting to take a proverbial right turn, I figured this was appropriate for today.

I should also set the stage before I get started. Like I mentioned the other week, in addition to starting a new job last month, I was also trying to make some changes to the blog in a technical sense and things got a little hairy. For a moment during the transition process I thought that I had lost everything I had ever blogged {but c’mon Christine, this is the Internet, are we serious?}. Thanks to the people at Bluehost, everything is now back on track {not a paid endorsement}.

So I was ready to blog again and decided one night to update my Macbook. Then I discovered that after the update my Canon software was simply no longer compatible with the latest Mac update {cool, right?}. No matter what I tried, I couldn’t load anything from my camera to my computer. Due to the fact that I work during the day, I was normally coming to these realizations at 10:30PM {aka Christine is tiiiiiiiirreeddd time}, if I even got the chance to work on the blog at all. Which lead to a lot of self-pity, self-loathing, and in general overly dramatic outbursts complete with Kim K. crying face. {“Why do I even blog have a blog?? I should just give up, maybe this is a sign! Screw the Internet!!!”}.

Note: this experience is NOT the most difficult thing that I have ever gone through, it was however incredibly frustrating and I had to exercise my brain in new ways to find solutions to my problems. Which looking back on now, I can say that since I’ve learned some quality skills from this whole debacle, isn’t a loss at all. I like blogging because it’s a creative outlet, and I’m also able to share anything from a recipe to a health tip or really anything random with my family and friends with the tap of a keyboard and a click of a mouse. I’ll admit that there were a few days where I seriously considered quitting, but that’s not in my nature. So I got up, moved forward, and figured it out. Now I have the blog back, I’m loving my new job, and while absolutely nothing is perfect, it’s all wonderful and I am so thankful for everything.

Life gets tough sometimes, and while I’m not quite on the level of the “Hang In There” cat posters, I do find value in the ability to “hang in there”. At various points in our lives, we’ve all been forced to hang on and keep moving forward. Whether you were graduating from school and finally entering the real world, a relationship was ending, or work was overly-stressful, as long as you were able to hold on and keep moving forward, life always works itself out in one way or another. This mentality does kind of rely on perspective, but if you really think about how things have worked out at certain points in your life, tell me that I’m wrong.

When you think about today’s mantra, you can insert any other cliche you can think of, “It’s always darkest before the dawn”, “The bad makes you appreciate the good”, the list goes on. But really,  and this is coming from a North Carolinian that understands what it’s like to experience all four seasons, we wouldn’t appreciate Spring as much as we do without Winter {minus the fact that the East Coast has been getting pounded with rain}. If everything in life was always easy, we wouldn’t appreciate the great moments in the way that we should. Much like if it was always “the perfect day”, you know, not too hot, not too cold, and all you need is a light jacket, we wouldn’t appreciate it like we should.

(Too bad I couldn’t have timed this for April 25th).

All in all, it’s Monday, the start of a new week. Whether things are a little rough right now, or they’re starting to look up, keep this idea in mind as you move forward to help put some perspective on your week!

Happy Monday, all! How do you keep things in perspecitve?
